Is Your “Healthy” Habit Still Healthy?

In this issue, I want to touch on healthy habits, routines, and regimes. I’ve experienced — as well as watched others — how sticking to them may actually be detrimental to our health and well-being over time.

Because if your “healthy” habit…

  • Drains you.

  • Feels forced.

  • Adds stress to your day.

  • And is done on autopilot…

Then maybe it’s no longer “healthy” for you — and it’s time to change things up.

Habits Check-In

🪞 Self-Awareness

Notice if your routine — be it running, a gym workout, or even your morning coffee — energises you, or if it’s something you do just because you’re used to it. Most importantly: are you even present when doing it? Or are you going through the motions?

🔄 Break the Cycle

Have you ever tried intentionally disrupting your routine…just to see what happens?

How does your body respond?

What emotions come up when you skip it on purpose?

Sometimes, doing the opposite of what we’re used to creates just enough space to notice what’s automatic… and what’s actually nourishing.

It’s in that pause where we often rediscover our balance.

⚡️Energy Levels

Do you feel energised or drained afterwards?

Because a truly healthy habit is only healthy if it supports your energy — whether it sets you up for the day, refills you mid-day, or helps you wind down for a night’s sleep.

😊 Happy Hormones

Does your routine actually make you happy? Is it fun while you’re doing it?

Because honestly… if it doesn’t bring you joy, and if it feels like a chore, then maybe it has become one. At that point, it may be doing more harm than good.

If your “healthy habit” doesn’t energise you, doesn’t make you happy, or you’re not enjoying it…then maybe it’s time to mix things up.
