Reclaiming Real Connection: Why a Like Will Never Hold Your Hand…

Have you ever wondered…

How are we so connected but oftentimes so disconnected from ourselves,

from each other,

from a greater spectrum of life…

How often do you meet new people…

new friends in real life…

and how often do you connect online…

I’ve come to know that…

Yes - social media has been great for linking up with people around the world…

but perhaps that’s really where it starts… and where it ends...

What we’ve ended up with is that

We may have manufactured connection through social media…

We’ve got…

Facebook friends

Instagram followers

LinkedIn connections

And others that I’m not even fully aware of…

( and who knows how many fake or AI-generated accounts are in this mix…)

But it all comes down to the same thing…

because they’re nothing more than collections of contacts until you actually..

Exchange your time together,

Share your thoughts…. share your experiences,

Dive deep into each other’s stories…

Because when you hit rock bottom…

Or when you’re just not okay

You won’t have those 100+ people around you.

Maybe not even a handful…

Who are really there for you…

Not to save you…

But just to be there with you.

….if you are lucky, they even live nearby.

So no…

We’re not friends until we actually

Spend time together,

get to know each other…

So…

Honour who you have beside you.

Be grateful for who you once had beside you.

And be honest about who is really there for you now.

Because the likes, the views, the number of connections….that isn’t real life.

It’s not hard to see that, social media is a tool fuelled by our instinctual need for validation,

our craving for connection….

because yes… we’re social beings who need belonging, community, and tribe to truly live and coexist.

It offers the illusion of love we’re missing within ourselves… oftentimes projected onto those around us.

But that’s not true love…

not a true connection….

True love and real connection can only be felt in presence.

Not through a little icon that shows up on a screen…

Because no amount of likes, shares, or views can replace being truly seen for who you are

If you ever feel called to share your thoughts, I’d love to hear from you…
